The Masdar Project
An energy company called Masdar attended to build a wind farm near the Saudi Arabian border. It will cost US$200 million. Their goal is to reach 7 per cent of the source in Abu Dhabi by 2020. Also, Mubadala Development which own Masdar is planning to build a small wind farm in Sir Bani Yas Island. It also has two more solar projects they planning to build. Experts said that it would be a challenge to build a wind farm because of the region nature. So it will not be a big share. Mr. Nassif said, “That will be a monitor for how much it will attract capital markets and bank funding, because it is the wind, not solar. It is the first project of its kind” (Yee, 2011).
